Dr. Hemedes is a complex and compassionate therapist. I had the honor of sitting with Leslie in a weekly consultation group at my previous place of employment. She often demonstrated an ability to uplift the seen and unseen parts of a person, especially in consideration of their different mental, emotional, physical, and environmental contexts. She is very well researched and always engages with a sense of curiosity and deep competence all at once. Our Specialities

My therapy sessions use trained knowledge and clinical experience to help you understand underlying cognitive processes that sometimes produce self-sabotaging thought and behavior patterns. Once we understand what’s holding us back, we can learn to change them and reduce the intensity of the patterns that do not serve us well. These sessions are a collaborative process where I work with you to identify concerns and to develop coping strategies that will provide relief from stress, grief, anxiety, and depression. You can either be a teen, adolescent, or an adult who wants to live a more peaceful present, or a family member who cares for a loved one.

Our thought patterns stem from inherited messages from our culture, families, and genetics that are not always easy to change. They can make us feel anxious, conflicted, or quick to jump to conclusions. In my therapy sessions, I focus on listening to you without judgment and helping you understand that you don't have to live with these overwhelming feelings anymore. I help you look at your concerns in a new, less scary way, and encourage you to develop better coping skills. These sessions additionally invite you to broaden your perspective, which can allow you to live more freely and fully.

My approach to therapy is influenced by my personal and clinical experience. I hold that we each have the desire and right to be understood. I am motivated to help you face your fears but only when you feel comfortable enough to confront them. This environment provides a warm and supportive space to help you reduce symptoms and increase growth. These sessions can help you understand yourself more holistically, learn to cope with challenges more easily, and increase the capacity to feel better about yourself and your life circumstances.
